Ali Asghar Khaji made the comments in a meeting with the visiting Italian Foreign Ministry’s Special Representative for Yemen and Afghanistan Affairs Gianfranco Petruzzella on Tuesday.
In the meeting, the two sides discussed the latest developments in the Yemen case, the ceasefire negotiations, and the latest situation in the Red Sea, emphasizing the need to reduce tension in the region and continue the political settlement process in Yemen.
Strongly condemning the Zionist crimes in killing the people of Gaza, Khaji noted that the Israeli regime's crimes have made the situation in the region tense and overshadowed its developments.
He also asked the European countries to try to stop the war machine of the Zionist regime.
"We can see a reduction in tension and crisis in the region by establishing an immediate and permanent ceasefire in occupied Palestine," Khaji stated.
Gianfranco Petruzzella, for his part, stressed the importance of Iran's role in creating peace and stability in the region, emphasizing the necessity of de-escalation in the current situation.
